His cemetery marker gives his birth year as 1851; obituary gives birth date as 10 March 1853; 1870 census estimates his birth year as 1854; marriage record estimates his birth year as 1855.His 1898 homestead proof gives his age as 38, implying an 1860 birth year. According to the 1880 census he was born in Ireland, but his homestead application states he was native born. Information provided by his daughter for his death certificate says he was born 10 March 1852 in Illinois. |
