Castles on the Rhine        Pictures        Previous        Next       Top

During the morning we sailed along the famous Romantic stretch of the Rhine. Despite the chill in the air and the wind, Tony and I set up chairs on the Sky Deck to enjoy the view. The boat glided past castle after castle, and we listened to the cruise director’s narrative over the speaker. At the narrowest stretch of the river, we learned that the Loreley statue has been moved to the bank of the river from her initial perch high on the cliff. During the trip, the cruise staff served Bloody Mary/Virgin Mary cocktails. I had one, although because of the cool weather I thought they should have been serving hot buttered rum instead. Tony ordered a Rudesheim coffee, but it was not as good as those we had the previous day.
